Don't need a proven winner, just a good manager and someone who can build. Wedge is the best of that bunch, just wore out his welcome in Cleveland.

If the Cubs don't promote Mike Quade to full-time, then I'd grab him if I were Seattle.
Nobody in MLB history could have won with the heinous offense the M's had this year. They were old-ish and aged rapidly.
The new manager needs to keep the pitching staff's confidence up, get Rowland-Smith right, and commit to no one over 30 except Figgins, Ichiro and Branyan (and plead to trade Figgins if possible)).
I think the biggest red flag was the Mariner's willingness to have millstones like Langerhans on their team. He's proven he can't hit, at all. Why give him another chance to reinforce it? Tacoma is lovely in the summer.
