I have noticed lately that the sports landscape here in Seattle has been very depressing. First, the Mariners took in the pipe and finished in the cellar again. I'm not much of a Seahawks fan, but it's local football and they are a train wreck right now. The UW Huskies are such a Jeckyl and Hyde team, you never know what you will get from week to week. I'm not a basketball fan, but the Sonics moved to Oklahoma City. We do have junior hockey in the Thunderbirds, but it's too early for me to get into hockey yet(once it turns cooler).
There is a team in town that is playing very well, and has been getting more of my interest lately. I guess it helps that my son is back to playing soccer that my interest has picked up in the Seattle Sounders FC again. This team has been on fire lately. They are unbeaten in their last eight games, have won the Lamar Hunt US Open cup for the second year in a row, and have qualified for the playoffs again. They can consistently pull 30 to 35 thousand fans to each game. I get the felling I might be watching a lot soccer for awhile. And as a side note to a couple bloggers in the Portland, OR area, you do realize that we be beating up on your Portland Timbers when they join the MLS next year, right??
Great, now I'm going to have to actually start following the Timbers only for the fact that you're calling Portland out. Thank.
