Last night was a night of emotions watching baseball. I had to love it that Joe Girardi decided to sit A-Rod and his .083 average to pinch hit for him. While the Mariners fan in me wants the Yankees to always lose, I can't help but root for good guys like Raul Ibanez. What does he do last night but keep them alive only to win win later. I have never had anything but good vibes for Rauuuuuul!
Also I couldn't help but watch my west coast teams including the Oakland A's. I thought they were done last night and what do they do but come back in the 9th to stay alive. Today's games should be fun for all fans out there.

The Haves and the Have Nots
I don't if anybody saw this coming down the pipeline today. We Mariners fans have wanted something exciting to happen to the Mariners roster all offseason. Today they made a big trade. I personally am not too impressed with the deal. The mighty Yankees have pulled down the Mariners pants in front of the whole school. Back in June of 2010, the Mariners and Yankees were working on a deal to send Cliff Lee to the Yankees for catching prospect Jesus Montero. The deal fell apart and Cliff went to Texas instead. Today the M's finally got Montero. They also acquired Hector Noesi.
In exchange for a right handed hitting catcher that can't catch, we give up a big horse in Michael Pineda. Also going to the Yankees is Jose Campos, who spent last season on A Everett.
While I know that everybody thinks that Jesus is next hot commotity, I don't know if I'm sold on him. I would assume that since he can DH and Justin Smoak can play 1B, that pretty much takes us out of any slight chance there was of getting Prince to come to Seattle. I think we still need a lefty hitter, but I guess we will probably roll out another stinker this year. I'm starting to feel the pain of Royals and Pirates fans, every good kid gets dealt. I sure hope there is some more signings or deals to come before Spring Training.

Bring on the Bombers
Tonight is the night. The Mariners are back in town. They are 1 game under .500, and 1 1/2 games out of first. Also comes the hated Yankees. I know Yankee fans think they own baseball, but after the weekend you will leave town with your tail between your legs. Have you seen the horses we are throwing at them this weekend?
Michael Pineda- Win on Friday night
King Felix- Win on Saturday night
Jason Vargas- Good chance to win on Sunday
The only day that worries me is Sunday. I don't know if CC will beat the M's. Also this guy is so in love with himself that he will have another bad series in Seattle:
Since leaving 10 seasons ago for the chance to WIN in Texas, and jumping for more cash in NYC Alex has not done well in the Safe. His average is only .253, lowest in all AL parks since leaving the Mariners. Yes, all these years and we still hate you A-Rod. Should be a fun weekend, I will be there Saturday. GO MARINERS!!

Who would you vote for??
After watching King Felix dazzle again last night with another brilliant performance, the announcers kept saying he could win the Cy Young. I know that I might be a biased fan, but tell me why he couldn't win it? If you look at his numbers, the only numbers he isn't near the league lead in is wins. I know in the old day is was all about wins, but would that keep you from voting for him? I figure because of his name and the team he plays for, CC Sabathia will win it this year. Look at a simple comparison of their numbers:
Felix CC
W-L 12-11 19-6
Games 32 31
ERA 2.35 3.03
CG 5 2
SHO 1 0
IP 233.2 217.0
Hits 187 181
Runs 78 81
ER 61 73
BB 64 68
K's 222 179
Avg. .216 .236
WHIP 1.07 1.18
Quality 26 20
Starts
The numbers that I think are very telling is that Felix has made 17 starts in which the Mariners have scored 3 of fewer runs for him, going 3-11. CC on the other hand has made only 6 starts that the Yankees have scored 3 or less going 1-4 in those games. If the Mariners could score some runs for him once in a while, he would be up there in the win column too.
If you break down the numbers Felix leads or is in the Top 3 in all categories. So, if a guy pitches like a stud, but plays on a bad team that can't score runs for him, can he win the award? Or do you give it to the guy with the bigger name and plays on a team that can buy the best players? I hope the voters do the right thing. Who would you vote for??? I want to give you a Cy Young vote, who gets in the AL this year??
