Trade Bait

Is your favorite team in a pennant race? Do you think it would behove them to pick up a cheap lefty for the remainder of the season? I've got a deal for you...The Mariners currently have a guy that is looking good this year, is on a one year deal, and won't be here next year. Ladies and gentlemen, I offer you and your team Mr. Erik Bedard

Erik is coming off multiple surgeries, but is 4-4 in 13 starts with a 3.16 ERA,  23 walks ands 70 strikeouts in 77 innings. You need to go easy on the elbow and shoulder and not overuse him, but I think he would help a team make a push.

Also, big congrats are in order for Dustin Ackley for getting the call to the big leagues. Dustin will get to see his first action on Friday night when the Phillies come to town. It should be a great series with the M's one game out of first behind the Rangers.  Bring your best Phillies fans!

Which way will he go?

Tonight for the first time in a long time, he's back. He last pitched for the Mariners on July 25, 2009. Erik Bedard makes his comeback in Texas. I wonder which Erik we will see? Will we see happy Erik:

Or will we see the usual, in trouble frowny face Erik:

I'm hoping for the best, since he did have a good spring in Arizona. We can definitely use an extra arm in the rotation. Let's hope we can get back on the winning track. Tomorrow: the major league debut of the next BIG Mariner pitcher 6' 7" Michael Pineda. More on him tomorrow.

Captain Comeback?!

It looks like we may have a new left handed possibility in our rotation. Look who's back ladies and gentlemen...

According to all reports so far, he is looking healthy. He has been taking regular turns in the bullpen sessions in Peoria. I also hear that he is being great with the media, answering questions and actually being nice and having fun.

Could we have a potential lefty that can throw on our team and we didn't have to make a deal? I surely hope that Erik can stay happy and healthy this year. I would like to see a year out of him similar to his years in Baltimore. I need some proof of why we sent four players to the Orioles for him. Good luck to Erik in the upcoming Cactus League.
